ARE YOU A DIABETIC?

Are you a Diabetic?
I was made to believe when I was a child that my Mom conceived me in her womb drinking softdrinks or cola. Therefore, I thought it was OK for me to drink cola with the thought I am already immune to whatever negative effects it will do to my health. Since my childhood; elementary till college, I was a cola drinker. I seldom skip cola as a refreshment. Instead, softdrink is a regular part of my meal.
It was also in childhood days that my parent set my mind that it's better to eat more rice than the viand (ulam). So, I ate rice, double if not triple, more than other courses. More carbohydrates. More sugar intake.
That was my lifestyle. Cola & rice in every meal.
Accidentally, or should I say God willing, a free blood sugar testing was held and I volunteered to have me tested. I was 30 years old then. A shocking truth made me numb. My blood sugar level was more than 250 (normal is from 80-100). I am diabetic which I denied. I went on by saying, "I only have high blood sugar level but am not diabetic."
Years have passed. I have accepted the truth. I am a diabetic. I am now taking medication to maintain my blood sugar. I loosen up with cola & double rice serving. Though I still drink softdrink once in a while for special occassion and eat just a cup of rice; extra is very seldom. I have a beautiful family; a loving wife and four wise kids. I want to live longer for them. There were so many testimonies about diabetis complications. A lot of people have died due to this very unwanted disease. I know that one day, this will affect my life yet I do not bother. Whether in life or death, I will strive to give glory to the Almighty God.
